Hi,

I’m always trying to improve my App Vocab Trainer. Right now, I’m thinking about what to improve within the version 3.0.

My first thought is to provide an “online Vocab Trainer Network” where users can exchange their vocabulary files.

You can help me to improve my App. Tell me what functionality you would like to see in version 3.0.

VocabTrainer 2.1 Update

Hi,

most user complained that it takes to long to switch from one vocabulary to another. With 2.1 you can now increase the speed to get the next vocabulary interrogation.

Just switch off the “Next Level View” in your iPhone settings!!!

Vocab Trainer 1.0.1: Bug fixed

Hi,

with the version 1.0.1 I’ve fixed a bug within the interrogation system.

The Interrogation system: Depending on your answer (Correct yes or no) and the level of learning progress (previous answers), the system moves the next interrogation date to a new date in the future (Level 1: next day). Within the version 1.o there was a bug with the increasing of the level of learning progress. This bug has been fixed.

This version is now available on the AppStore.

Tablesheets 2.1: Submitted to the AppStore

Hi,

today I’ve submitted the version 2.1 of my iPhone App Tablesheets 2nd edition to the AppStore for their further review. Hope the update will be available by the end of january 2010.

The following updates has been made:

1.) In-App Purchase item for exporting files has been removed. This functionality will be available for free.

2.) In-App Purchase item for managing multiple tablesheets has been improved. Up to now users can only manage one Tablesheet without buying the appropriate item in the AppStore. With this update users can manage up to two Tablesheets for free.

3.) File import from MS-Excel via WiFi using FTP-protocol has been added as a new App. Watch my YouTube video that describes how this works. This video is also built into the new version of my App. Users who download the new version have to watch this video once they’ve installed this new version.

In version 1.2.2 all In-App-Purchase Items has been removed from the App, so that all functionalities are now available for free.

Hi,

developing iPhone Apps has become very popular for the last year. Actually Apple provides more than 100.000 Apps in their AppStore.

From the developer perspective, it seemed to be a great opportunity to earn much money very fast. But from the iPhone user’s point of view this great growth of available Apps has changed their minds. I think iPhone users would’t pay any more for any kind of App as almost any kind of App is already available for free.

What do you think? Would you pay for an iPhone App?

I’ve removed the in app purchase item for managing multiple credits. This functionality will be a free functionality in version 1.2.1

Tablesheets: V.2.0.1 uploaded

Hi,

when editing the cell value, you have to press the return button from the keyboard to make the changes applicable to the appropriate cell.

In Version 2.0.1 now each change in the text field will automatically change the appropriate cell value.

That will make cell editing much more comfortable and easier.

The version 2.0.1 has been uploaded to Apple today. I hope to get it reviewed within the next 14 days. Please keep patience.

Tablesheets 2nd edition 2.0: Now Available

Hi,

the iPhone App “Tablesheets 2nd edition” version 2.0 is now available on the AppStore.

One of the major improvements is that now the two Apps “Tablesheets” and “Tablesheets Lite” are merged together into one App.

The major improvement is that the In App Purchase functionality has been incorporated. You can now download the functionality to manage multiple Tablesheets and to export your files as PDF or as Microsoft Excel XML.

Any feedback about this new release is highly appreciated!

Credits 1.2: Now Available on the AppStore

Hi,

the iPhone App Credits version 1.2 is now available on the AppStore.

One of the major improvements is the redesign of the look and feel. The calculation is now automatically done, when the user changes one value.

One further new improvement is that the In App Purchase functionality has been incorporated. You can now download the functionality to manage multiple credits and to get further calculation results.

Any feedback about this new release is highly appreciated!

Tablesheets and Credits: redesign

Hi,

one of my issues was that Apple did not provide a convenient method to provide Trial-versions for customers within the AppStore. As a result to this fact, lot of developers offered or still offer two version of Apps that only differs in functionalities like a Trial-version and a Full-version do. Since iPhone OS 3.0 Apple has designed a so called In App Purchase that lets ustomers buy extra functionalities within their Apps. But this functionality was only provided to Apps that were not free.

Now Apple provides the ability to make In App Purchases also for free applications. This issue let me think about redesigning my Apps Credits and Tablesheets. I now added In App Purchases for these two Apps and uploaded them to Apple.

I’m now waiting for Apple approvement.

Tablesheets: Known issue #2 App crashing

Hi,

within Tablesheets version 1.1 and Tablesheets Lite version 1.0 I already realized the following problem:

Problem:

When you quit the App with no further Tablesheets file stored within the App and then launches the App again it’s going to crash.

Solution:

Right now, I’d ask you, if you could keep in mind, that at least one Tablesheets file has to be stored into the Tablesheets database when quitting the App.

This issue has already been analyzed and the bug has been found so that I try to fix this issue as quick as possible. The usual time Apple needs to review new versions is approx. 2 weeks. So that I hope the updated version will be available 09.Nov. 10 on the AppStore.

I just want to ask you if you could have some more patience.

Tablesheets: Known issue #1 raw-data submission

within Tablesheets version 1.1 and Tablesheets Lite version 1.0 I already realized the following problem:

Problem:

When you send me raw-data of your Tablesheet file I just receive an empty file with no further content. The purpose of this raw-data file is to get your ideas, your Tablesheets that will be incoorporated as templates in future updates.

Solution:

Right now, I’d ask you, if you could provide me the same file as MS-XML. This issue will be solved within one of the next updates.

Hi,

my App Tablesheets can now being downloaded and tested for free within my App Tablesheets Lite. This version is now available on the AppStore.

In Tablesheets Lite you can max. use 2 Tablesheets. In each Tablesheet you can max. use 10 x 10 rows and columns.

Credits 1.2: Adding some functionalities

Actually I’m developing some further functionalities for my iPhone App Credits!
The new version 1.2 will show the sum of the account balances and the monthly rates over all credits at the first view.
At the second view it will also calculate the total credit costs.
Some furter improvements in the french translation will also be made.

Tablesheets 1.2: setting up the requirements

Hi although the version 1.1 has just been submitted to Apple for further review, I’m actually gathering my requirements for the future enhancements in version 1.2.

My first ideas are listed below:

Import MS Excel XML-files via FTP.
- As Apple does not support any convenient support for exchanging any data either with your Mac OS X nor with any other OS like Windows or Linux, I first thought about how I can easily set up a connection to get the MS Excel XML-file.
- Within my first research I came to the conclusion, that file transfer via ftp would be a really good compromise to Apples missing data-exchange API.
- Within your Mac OS X setting up a ftp-server on your Mac is much easier than you might think.
- This functionality has already been analyzed and incorporated into my source code with a really basic first approach. The sorce code has still to be optimized.
- Next step will be to parse the XML-data to the file format Tablesheets uses.
Copy and Paste cells, rows and columns.
- As you can already copy cell content via the iPhone OS 3.0 built in functionality I first thought, that this is sufficient for the users.
- I got a lot of feedback, where people are telling me that they would need a more convenient functionality to copy and paste cells.
- Well, after thinking about that, I agree to these requirements, as users wouldn’t just copy and paste cell contnent, they may also want to copy and paste the cell settings like text size, background color and so on.
Adding tags and review dates to Tablesheets.
- To get your Tablesheets better organized, I already incorporated a description, creation date and date for the last access in version 1.1.
- Further meta-data will be adding tags and a date for your next review.
- With the add of these information, I will also provide some kind of filters and different views to find your tablesheet in your tablesheets overview more convenient.
Adding templates.
- This is, where I’ll need your support.
- In version 1.1 I incorporated a email functionality to provide me your raw-data.
- If you’ll send me these raw data of your tablesheets, I’ll incorporate these tablesheets as templates in version 1.2.
- You can then create a new tablesheet from these templates.

Well, I hope you will enjoy the version 1.1 and will have some patience to wait for the next version, that is already in developing process.

Tablesheets 1.1: Uploaded to Apple today

Today my iPhone App Tablesheets version 1.1 has been uploaded to Apple for further review.

The following functionalities has been added:

Performance improved.
MS Excel XML File Export functionality added.
PDF File Export functionality added.
Raw Data Export functionality added to provide the developer team templates that will be incorporated in future updates.
Copy Tablesheets functionality added.
Product Information View added.
Data model for performance issues improved.
Grey color style added (Color intensity ranges from white to black).
Extended Tablesheets information added: Creation Date, Last access date, Tablesheets description.

I hope, that Apple will approve this version really quick.

Tablesheets 1.0.1 Lack of Performance?

Some users wrote me about some performance issues within my iPhone App Tablesheets version 1.0.1. They’re telling me, that the system doesn’t respond immediately to user interactions.
To understand and get behind these issues I’m doing some analysis work and provide further information at this blog.
To track these information look at the label “Performance issues”.
First I’m going to test the App with some kind of huge databases and check for the loading and responding behaviour of the system as I also will take a look at the system memory state.

Tablesheets 1.1 PDF and XML Export successfully tested

New version 1.1 of App Tablesheets still in developing process.
Today the PDF and MS Excel XML export functionality was successfully tested.
Further functionality in version 1.1 will be a extended Tablesheets File View, which will include the date of file creation, the date of last access and a short Tablesheet description.
Scheduled date for transmitting the new version to Apple for a further review is the 09/27/09.
Expected date for availability on the AppStore is the 10/11/09.

Tablesheets 1.1 Adding Grey Color Style

New version 1.1 of iPhone App Tablesheets still in developing process.
Actually PDF and XML Support has been added and will now being tested.
As the current Color Types Green, Blue and Red are probably not the best colors for exporting the Tablesheet to a pdf-file, I will also implement a new color style grey which ranges from white color to black color.
